Week-by-week bump photo ideas

Curly Rainbow at Sunset flower stickers, full set

Taking a bump photo every few weeks is one of the easiest ways to remember a pregnancy, and a week sticker on your belly means you'll never wonder which picture is which. Curly Rainbow at Sunset is our pregnancy set, and it's sold on Amazon. It has 22 flower-shaped stickers, with black flowers and watercolor script. Some name a week, and the others are short phrases for announcements and the moments in between.

Same spot and same outfit

Pick a spot you can come back to, such as a doorway or a plain stretch of wall, and use it every time. Wear the same top if you can, because a different shirt makes the change harder to see. Turn sideways so the bump reads in profile. Facing the camera hides a lot of it, and that matters most in the early weeks.

Take the picture in the daytime, near a window, with the light coming from the side. If a partner is with you, hand them the phone. A timer works if you're on your own. Keep the phone at belly height either way, so the picture isn't aimed down from your face.

Weeks 8, 12, and 16

At 8 weeks you may not see much of a bump yet. Take the photo in your spot anyway, with the week sticker on your belly. That first picture is the one you'll want next to the later ones.

At 12 weeks, keep the same top and the same angle, so a small change is easier to see.

At 16 weeks, take the side-on photo again. If a bump is starting to show, you'll see it in profile. If it isn't, the sticker still says which week it was.

Week 20, the halfway point

Twenty weeks is the halfway point, and there's a sticker for it. Stay in the same spot, and keep the side view. If you'd like someone else in the picture, this is a good week to include them, as long as the flower on your belly stays readable.

Week 24, then every two weeks

The next week sticker is 24. After that, through the third trimester, they come every two weeks: 28, 30, 32, 34, 36, and 38. You can skip the weeks that don't have a sticker.

Stand the way you normally stand, since you don't need a pose for the bump to show from the side. That two-week rhythm lets you see the change without taking a photo every week. If you're tired on one of those days, rest and try the next day. The sticker still names the week.

What's in the pack: flower stickers for bump photos

Week 40

Week 40 is the last week sticker. Use your usual spot if it's easy to get to, but any plain wall works just as well. A couple of quick shots is plenty, so stop once you have one you like.

Phrase stickers

The other stickers are phrases, not weeks. Pick one when it matches the day.

The Coming soon sticker fits an announcement, whether you're telling a few people or sharing the picture more widely.

It's a boy and It's a girl work for a gender reveal, or for a quieter photo after you already know. If you're waiting to find out, use It's a surprise.

Big brother in training and Big sister in training are for a photo with the older child in it. They can stand beside you, or sit if that's easier. Leave the sticker on your belly so it stays in the frame with them.

If you're expecting twins, there's an It's twins sticker. Use the same side-on setup and wear it in place of a week number.

Eating for two is a fun one for a lighter photo. Hold a favorite snack if you like, and keep it simple.

Ready to pop suits the later weeks, when a phrase feels better than another number.

You can use Due date by itself, or hold a card with the date written on it.

Keep it comfortable

Rest when you're tired. Skip a pose that feels awkward, and don't hold still just to push the bump into a shape. If you'd rather sit, sit down and take the side view from there. Stop as soon as you've had enough.
