Christmas pregnancy announcement ideas

You can share a Christmas pregnancy with one photo. Put a phrase sticker or this week's sticker on your bump, and keep the rest of the picture plain.

When should I announce a Christmas pregnancy?

Tell people when you want them to know. The photo can wait until that day.

Some families share the news at the start of December. Others wait for a card, a visit, or the week they already planned to tell. The sticker names the moment. It does not pick the day for you.

If you are early and the bump is still small, take the photo anyway. A side view and the sticker show what the outline does not. If you would rather wait until later in the month, use the same setup then.

What should I wear in the photo?

Wear a top that leaves the bump uncovered, in a color you can see against the wall.

A fitted shirt, a plain dress, or a sweater lifted above the belly works. A coat, a scarf, or a knit pulled over the bump hides the sticker. If you want one Christmas piece, add a soft hat or a simple necklace, and keep it off the belly. Skip glitter on the skin, and skip loose beads if a child will be in the frame.

How do I set up the photo at home?

Take it in the daytime, near a window, with the light coming from the side. Turn the flash off.

Stand in profile so the bump shows. Facing the camera hides a small bump. Use a plain wall or a doorway you can stand in again. A partner can hold the phone at belly height. A timer works if you are alone. A photo from above mostly shows your face and misses the sticker.

If the window is behind you, your front goes dark. Turn until the light reaches the bump and the sticker. Leave a busy tree out of the frame. One plain ornament on a table beside you is enough if you want a Christmas cue, and it stays off your belly.

Keep candles, hot drinks, and glass ornaments out of the frame. If you are tired, sit and take the side view from a chair.

The same window and the same side view are on week-by-week bump photo ideas. After the baby arrives, baby's first Christmas photo ideas uses a plain onesie and a monthly sticker, on the floor.

Which sticker should I use?

Use one sticker. A phrase sticker fits an announcement. A week sticker fits when you want the number in the picture.

Curly Rainbow at Sunset is the Stick'Nsnap pregnancy set. It has 22 flower stickers, with black flowers and watercolor script, and it is listed on Amazon. Some name a week. The others are short phrases. Pregnancy belly stickers is the page for how that listing differs from the onesie sets.

Coming soon fits the day you tell people, whether that is a few relatives or a wider share. It's a boy and It's a girl fit a gender photo. If you are waiting to find out, use It's a surprise. It's twins is the phrase if you are expecting two. For the photo at home, see gender reveal photo ideas at home.

Press the sticker onto clean, dry skin, where the photo can read the words. Peel it off when you are done. Do not cover it with a hand, a cup, or the hem of a shirt.

How do I include the week or the due date?

Use the week sticker for the week you are in, or the Due date sticker if the date matters more than the number.

The week stickers in this set include 8, 12, 16, 20, and 24, then every two weeks through 40: 28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, and 40. If Christmas falls on a week without a sticker, use the nearest week you have, or skip the number and use a phrase. Week-by-week bump photo ideas walks through those weeks one by one.

Due date can stand on its own. You can also hold a card with the date written on it, next to the sticker, so both stay readable. If the card covers the flower, move the card.

Ready to pop suits a later announcement, when a phrase is clearer than another number. Eating for two is the lighter photo. Hold a snack you already like, and leave the rest of the frame empty.

Who else can be in the picture?

A partner can stand beside you. An older child can stand or sit next to you. Keep the sticker in the frame with them.

Big brother in training and Big sister in training are the phrase stickers for a photo with the older child. They can hold a cloth stocking or one soft ornament, away from their mouth. If they will not stay still, take your photo first, then one with them. You still have the announcement.

Stay on the floor or on a stable chair if a child is climbing toward you. Do not set them on a counter to line up the shot. If the room is loud, wait until it is quiet. One clear photo is enough.
